“This is bones” - Zee

Elizabeth "Zee" is a supporting character from Monster House. She is DJ's babysitter, Bones’ girlfriend and Skull's (very brief) love interest.

Biography:[]

As a child, she still had braces and a lisp that made her mispronounce 's' as 'th'. One afternoon she is seen playing with her dolls while on rollerblades. She calls one of them Princess Maya and has her sit with two other dolls for a tea party. Zee then pulls out a grass cutter as she starts destroying the dolls. Across the street, Bones is seen crying after having just lost his Kite to Nebbercracker. He then stands up and runs moving past Zee's location. Zee sees him and tries to intercept him, calling him out and asking him what's wrong. Bones pushes her away, calling her 'Barf-Face', causing her to crash on the grass and sighing in infatuation[1] and Over twenty years later, Zee has become a babysitter for DJ.[1]

Soon after Nebbercracker's body is brought to the hospital and DJ is left by his parents, Zee arrives at DJ's house and asks about what has happened, to which DJ simply ignores her. Following him into his house, she loudly exclaims her plans for a fun, activity-filled weekend until DJ tells her that his parents were gone, and she proceeds to take off her pink cardigan and headband and drop her cheerful, perfect babysitter act. She then gives the lecture on DJ and when he expressed his boredom with her rules, she resorts to shattering one of DJ's mother's vases as blackmail and told him to go to bed. While DJ was upstairs, she put on loud rock music and called her boyfriend Bones, most likely asking him to come over.

She later caught DJ peering at what appeared to be a ghost in the window of Nebbercracker's home. DJ told her about the strange phone that he received but ended up getting teased instead. Bones even went too far by tearing a little stuffing out of DJ's bunny doll, which prompted Zee to stop him. Bones then dropped the damaged doll in disgust. Both of them were later unaware of the strange sightings that DJ later witnessed.

She and Bones had a conversation while DJ decided to sneak off, where he overheard Bones' past where he had his kite confiscated by the old man, but not without seeing him talking to his house and kissing it. Due to getting drunk at that time, he suddenly rough-housed her and resulting in her kicking him out rather harshly.

The next morning, she caught DJ and Chowder spying on Nebbercracker's home. Discovering that the boys never left home and went as far as peeing in bottles, she says that their parents should take them to doctors. She then asked them if they have seen Bones, whom she kicked out and he never came back to apologize. Recalled that they found a bottle before the possessed house attacked them, DJ and Chowder deduced that Bones may have been attacked. Of course, she didn't believe them and even misinterpreted the line ''gotten eaten alive'' as in he's having an affair.

Irritated by the phone from Chowder's parents, Zee goes for them just as they barely escaped from the house's third attack. Without thinking twice, she goes for the house but is stopped by DJ who claims he's going through puberty when asked why he's acting so oddly. She still stops going, but mainly cause she's too weirded out. So she decided to leave the kids to their business to go find Bones and later on during the movie’s end credits, She convinced Skull to pretend to be her boyfriend so Bones would get jealous and care more for her. However, Bones apathetically replied "whatever" and simply walked away not seeming to even care. She called over to him in response.

Trivia:[]

  • She went to the Westbrook Prep school like Jenny but was kicked out for an unknown reason.
  • If DJ failed to stop her from approaching Nebbercracker's possessed house, she would most likely eat or ended up being saved by DJ and his friends.
  • In an early draft version of the movie, Zee was originally going to be eaten by the house as its tree branch arm grabbed her.
  • Zee is similar to Vicky from Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents as they are both bad babysitters that blackmail the main male characters of their tv series/movie (Timmy and DJ respectively) However, unlike Vicky, Zee is not the main antagonist and she does not chase DJ with an axe or any other sharp weapons and is not evil, just mean.
  • Zee does not appear in the Nintendo GameCube and game boy advance versions of monster house however, she was mentioned by DJ in the Nintendo DS version.
  • It is unknown who she is, but Zee has a rivalry with someone named Sherry Clausen, namedropping her in a spiteful tone after Chowder mentioned Bones could have potentially been eaten by the house, taking his warning out of context and assuming that Bones is having an affair with Sherry.
